Why losing weight and keeping it off isn't just about looking good.

I'll be the first to admit that I like to maintain a certain weight so my clothes fit better and I feel more confident.
BUT....maintaining a healthy weight is about so much more than looking good.

Reaching and maintaining a healthy weight is vital for overall health and can help prevent and control many diseases and even death.

Being overweight puts you at an increased risk of serious health problems including cardiovascular disease, heart attack, stroke, high blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis, gallstones, infertility and even certain cancers.

”In fact, Being overweight can increase your odds of breast cancer by 30 to 60 percent, according to the Prevent Cancer Foundation. Abdominal fat is particularly dangerous; it can increase your risk by 43 percent.”

Unhealthy eating and physical inactivity are considered the leading cause of death in the U.S.!

So, no…..it is most definitely NOT about vanity to lose and maintain your weight.

One of my weight loss clients, Stephen, came to me weighing nearly 300 pounds.

He had high blood pressure, high cholesterol and was borderline diabetic.

Stephen and I worked together on his diet and nutrition, while he also worked with a personal trainer at our gym doing weight and cardiovascular exercise.

Within a year, Stephen’s weight was down to 160 pounds, his body fat was below 20%, he was taken off his blood pressure and cholesterol meds AND he signed up to become a certified personal trainer.

His life was truly changed.

THAT is why I do what I do!

Yes, it is nice to look better. It makes you feel better and more confident about yourself and gives you more energy to enjoy life.

But it can also completely change your health and the trajectory of your life.
