6 Steps to Network Marketing Success
Network marketing is the most equal opportunity business on the planet. Everyone sells the same products, everyone has access to the exact same training, and everyone has the same compensation plan.
The variable is you.
If your network marketing strategy is not working, you need to look inward, because success is possible. You can achieve your goals.
To help you do so, I’m sharing my six steps to success in network marketing—the same things I did myself. These steps took me from losing money in network marketing to making multiple six-figures.
Discover your why.
The first thing you need is to find your why or reason for doing what you’re doing. Make sure it is strong enough to motivate you.
Network marketing is not easy, but it is worth it. I mean, in what other job can you work extremely part-time hours from wherever you want and have unlimited earning potential?
But it’s first and foremost a job, and you have to work for success like you would in any other career. Your big why will push you to do what you need to do to succeed.
If your why is to make $200 or to get your products for free, how driven and motivated will you be?
When my family was in $80,000 of debt, you better believe I got to work. My why was huge.
What’s going to make you get up and do the work every single day?
What’s going to make you work when you don’t feel like it?
What’s going to keep you disciplined?
What will make you step out of your comfort zone?
That is your big why.
2. Do the work.
You can have the biggest why in the world, and say, “Yes, I want, this.” But, if you don't actually do the work every day, you’re not going to make any money.
You need to develop the discipline to treat network marketing like a full-time job. Make it a habit.
The beauty of network marketing is that you can work when you want and where you want, but you’ve still got to work. You need to treat it like a business, because it is.
If you didn't show up to a full-time job every day, you would lose your job. With network marketing, you are your own boss, so you have to show up for yourself—and your family.
3. Change your sales mindset.
Do you ever say that you are “not a salesperson?”
Do you feel bad trying to sell to people? I get it! I felt the same for the longest time. I didn’t want to sell; I didn’t want to be annoying. I didn’t want people to see me coming at school pickup and run the other way, because they were afraid I was going to try to sell them something.
But then I changed my mindset:
I represent an unbelievable product. It works. It’s something that everybody needs, and it’s an unbelievable business opportunity as well. Network marketing has completely changed my life and the lives of the people on my team.
Why on earth would I not want to share that with people?
This needs to be your mindset, too.
I wake up everyday, and I thank God that the person who introduced me to my business came into my life. My life would look very different if she hadn’t.
You have a chance—with this network marketing business of yours—to change someone’s life. How can you resist sharing this opportunity with others?
That’s the mindset I want you to take into this. If you represent an unbelievable company—and you really believe in it—you should share it with absolutely everybody.
4. Get over your fear of what people think of you.
My fear of other people’s opinions was the number one thing that held me back from achieving success in my first year of business. I was paralyzed with that fear.
I eventually realized a simple truth: They’re not thinking about me. Or you.
I say that with love, but nobody really cares. People are too worried about what everyone else is thinking about them to worry about you at all.
I finally said to myself, these people are not paying my bills. They’re not getting my family out of debt. I need this, my family needs this; this is our answer.
If someone doesn’t like you because you are trying to make your life better, why on earth would you want that person in your life anyway?
That’s what you have to start thinking. I guarantee you’re going to actually inspire people along the way. So, stop caring what anyone thinks, because they’re not even thinking about you anyway.
5. Keep your blinders on.
You need to take your cue from the racehorses on this one. They wear blinders so that they only focus on what is ahead of them. They do not care what the horses next to them or behind them are doing. They just run their race.
Set your goal, establish a plan of action for the work you need to do to achieve that goal, and run your race.
Don’t worry about anything else that’s going on around you, because it doesn’t matter. Some people will move faster, some will move slower, but it only matters what you do.
6. Have a positive growth mindset.
You can’t have a negative mindset and think positive things are going to happen. Again, this is the most equal opportunity business. Stop telling yourself reasons why you can’t, and just go for it. You’ve got to change your mindset, and you’ve got to change your language.
Stop wishing and hoping, and say I will.
Whatever your goal is, you will go for it today. Just do it. Change your mindset, change your language, and put it out there. I promise you, you’re going to work differently as a result. You’re going to position yourself differently, and people are going to take you more seriously.
Right now, the only thing holding you back is you.
These six steps will take you far in your network marketing business. Put them into action, and watch your life—and your business—evolve.
Which of these 6 steps are you most excited to implement?
